- Take a non stick pan, add sugar and remaining 1cup water. Mix well till sugar gets completely dissolved.
- Mix cornflour syrup once again and slowly pour it in sugar syrup. Keep stirring continuously.
- Add lemon juice and mix well. It will become thick. Add 1tblspn ghee and mix nicely.
- Add ghee in 3-4 batches. Mix each time till you get a shinny and transparent.
- Add food colour(I used green, you can add any food cokor) and 1tsp ghee. Mix well. Till this time, the mixture is thick, shinny, transparent and has left the sides of pan.
- Remove it in a greased tin and put chopped dry fruits. Press them slightly. You can even add 1/4 cup of dry fruits in the pan itself and use rest for garnishing. Let it set for 2 hrs at room temperature. Cut and serve.
I have tried corn flour halwa with milk as suggested by Shalini. But I haven't tried Mumbai Karachi halwa style.
