Steps to make Daal Fara / Dal Peetha:
- For dough- heat water with salt and ghee in it. Take off the flame and mix rice flour in it thoroughly so that there are no lumps remaining. Keep aside till cools down.
- Now for the filling, drain the chana dal and in a grinder, coarsely grind daal, green chillies, ginger paste and add salt, turmeric and red chilli powder and coriander leaves. Add a little water if required but filling should not be too watery.
- Now take the dough out on a greased plate and start kneading till it becomes soft. Take small portions,flatten it and cut into round shapes
- Now place a spoonful of filling and fold. Make all the Fara like this.
- Now steam for about 10-15 minutes on medium high flame and let them cool a bit. before removing from the plate. You can serve it as is.
- For Tempering, faras should be completed cool down first. Heat oil in a pan, add jeera and rai and let it sputter. Cut fara into peices and add to the pan. Let it becomes crispy from outside. Sprinkle some salt and red chilli powder. Your delicious treat is ready!
